Alaa Mansour (b. 1989, Kinshasa, Democratic Republic of the Congo) is a Lebanese research-based image-film-maker. Her work probes the thresholds of perception, simulation, and control, interrogating the “vision machine” and its entanglement with violence, desire, and futurity. Operating at the intersections of necropolitics and cognitive warfare, she investigates how vision becomes both a site of domination and a field of resistance. Through film, sound, and installation, Mansour constructs speculative imaginaries that rupture colonial-capitalist teleologies and summon mythopoetic futures. Her films Aïnata (2018) and The Mad Man's Laughter (2021) have been screened internationally. She received the 2023 Han Nefkens Foundation – Fundació Antoni Tàpies Video Art Production Grant.
