Diane Severin Nguyen (b. 1990, Carson, California) lives and works in New York. She works across photography, video, and installation, constructing worlds in which surface and substance, illusion and truth, fold into one another. Her practice approaches the photographic moment as one of transformation where material instability, desire, and speculation converge. Nguyen examines the politics of representation and the psychological economies that shape identity, propaganda, and power. Her work has been exhibited at the Whitney Museum of American Art (New York), MoMA PS1 (New York), the Renaissance Society (Chicago), Jeu de Paume (Paris), and screened at Berlinale and the New York Film Festival. A 2023 Guggenheim Fellow, she continues to expand the possibilities of image-making and perception.
