Unstrung
أحتاجُ دوزنة

Unstrung (أحتاجُ دوزنة) a moving image work that attends to the affective economies of the Sudan war as they are articulated through registers of song, dance, music and poetry. Exploring the aesthetics of past and present Sudanese militarized cultures and their harnessing of revolutionary desires, the work unravels the ideological entanglements between sites of political violence and everyday mythmaking.

In the work, analog 16mm printing techniques, performance, montage, and sonic interventions disrupt and repurpose archival material, footage, and sonic fragments, while deconstructing the social choreographies that sustain the life and memory of war within communities. By manipulating various militaristic and war archives against themselves, Unstrung / أحتاجُ دوزنة attempts to articulate the appropriation of revolutionary energies through the cultural, affective, and embodied politics of war in Sudan.
